Plastic inserts on valve buttons ever seen this before?

On my 1966 bach 37 there are some colored plastic tab like things
inside under the value buttons.
I think this came with the horn when it was purchased.
But these could have been added later I don't know.

Maybe color-coded by thickness to assist when doing downstroke valve alignment?

Those are mylar critical alignment washers.

Someone did a valve alignment on that instrument at some point.

yes a valve alignment was done on this horn before I purchased it.

Note - they are different colors.
Mark down the colors and the corresponding valve numbers. When you take the horn apart for cleaning - be sure to put the valve buttons on the correct valves.

These should have a hole smaller than the stem fitting between the stem and the valve button - increasing the overall stroke length when the button is tightened.

You could also use set screws in the stems or shim under the top cap washer but these are probably a better way to go.

If it were me I would use a pin to lightly mark each valve cap with a Roman numeral since I would never find my notes later when I needed them.
