Hi everyone,
I dare to ask here for a little help.
I suspect that I dont have the 4 legs thing right .
I have read that as a IIIB, I ' should ' have the mouthpiece anchored on the lower lip, but instinctively, I can feel the pivotal point is the upper lip.
Any advice to get it right ?
thanks

Does Reinhardt have the concept of there being a 'pivot point'? And if so, does it stay in the same place? _________________ Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'. |

The control point, I believe, is what you’re referring to. I don’t recall Doc ever calling anything the “pivotal point.”
Weight on the bottom is correct. Chris LaBarbera reminded me about the expression that you need to “feel teeth” all the way around the “perfect circle” or the “hermetic seal” of the four legs of the inner embouchure of the IIIB player.
When things are working well for my chops I can feel that perfect circle all the way around on my teeth and gums. That concept simplifies the process greatly for me. Hope that helps. _________________ Puttin’ On The Ritz |
