This is how playing/practicing trumpet effects me on a regular basis. Maybe it's a lack of oxygen after long tone practice but, there's something err...magical, about this instrument.

Just saw you were from Australia! Probably because you have to practice hanging upside down!

Nah. Everyone knows that the deeper you go the higher the air pressure. Since the “land down under” is so far down the issue is probably too much pressure.

This is all very disappointing, but, I guess the opposite must be true if we're going with the down under thing.

For me, listening to bagpipes produces similar facial expressions ...

OK, I have to admit, I can't really interpret that expression on the face, but with the flashing fireworks and dizzying movement, the only thing I can relate to is the migraine I got after my first day teaching elementary music in a small school. I turned my back to play accompaniment on the piano for about 20 seconds and when I looked up, the kids had rearranged the risers and were re-enacting the previous nights big time wrestling show!

Last time I turned my back on a class for my 3 years there!

Alright, look, it's no mystery, just a light hearted post about how much I am on the odd occasion, dazzled by the instrument. Explaining one's self is a lot of fun.

I posted after a particularly excellent practice session and that's that. I can't do much about people not being able to interpret common memes. But that's okay. Next time I'll keep everything typically literal. Promise.

Yet another clear example as to why trumpet is magic.

Well, I think most if not all of us here know the feeling you're describing (even if we're not into memes ).

Nice to read you had such fun playing.

Oh yea, it is like magic, until you frack an important note in a big band or orchestral piece and it stands out bigtime.

Thanks...it is fun, that's for sure. I find memes fun also. Fun fact - did you know the word meme was first coined by Richard Dawkins? It's based on the word, gene

This is, of course, the one big differentiator between brass and the others. You make a mistake like that - which I do often btw - and there's no hoping that no one noticed.
