Isn't Bob Reeves in your general area?

Don't most places send their stuff to Andersen's for plating, or does Bob have his own plating setup in the shop?

I also live in the Los Angeles area and have used Bob Reeves for mouthpiece plating. This is an excellent choice.

It's been a long time but Bob Reeves once modified a mouthpiece and spot-plated the exposed brass while I waited.

Bob Reeves does plating in house and is drivable from Pasadena (they are near Six Flags)

Just give them a call beforehand and set up an appointment

Reeves is fine for silver plating but his gold plating is very light in color, nothing like the deep gold color of a Monette, not even close.

i was just at Bob's joint yesterday getting a piece threaded and a bit needed to be replated and Brett did it all while i waited

he even spiffied up an old piece that Carlos ( of Stomvi fame ) had copied.for me back in the Hollywood era 80s

they can certainly do the job

there is also Boyles & Snyder in east Hollywood. they did some gold plating for me over the past 40 years

Most people don't have people who do mouthpiece plating anywhere within a state or two of where they live.

You could just send it somewhere and have it done, instead like most of us.

Edit: missed "like" in the last sentence.

There are a couple of places you can send a mouthpiece. As far as I know, you can send stuff directly to Anderson in Elkhart, IN, and I know that Mouthpiece Express used to offer that service.

https://mouthpieceexpress.com/catalog/plating.php

I have a guy right here in the Baltimore area who does some lightweight plating work - he'll gold plate a rim, or kinda re-plate a mouthpiece that's looking pretty worn, but it's not the thick, industrial, long wearing plating process that the big guys use.

I have used Aaron Velasquez @ thetaplate to get a few pieces rhodium plated. He did a great job at a very reasonable price.

No idea on gold but would certainly be worth a reach out.

Quickly found a 2018 price list. Then it was $35 for silver, $80 for gold. I'm sure you can mail it if you don't want to suffer the drive. Call first for any service.
