My understanding is that his Committee got knocked off a stand, bending the bell. Diz started playing it and thought he could hear himself better and quicker, so refined it into what we see today. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Not mythology - Diz tells the story in his bio 'To Be or Not to Bop'.....
