Has anyone had experience using the Dawn Powerspray for trumpet internal cleaning?
the Powerspray seems to de-grease pots and pans really well, and would probably work well on a horn, but unsure of the safety on a horn lacquer.
thanks! _________________ Lots of horns for the job |

Not quibbling, just want to get it right. Do you mean Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray and not Dawn Powerspray? _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Yes, Dawn Powerwash Dish Spray.
My thought was I could disassemble the trumpet, spray the pistons, the valve cases and tubing and quickly snake and rinse.
This would take less time than soaking, snake and rinse and be a bit more effective.

I know that they use Dawn (regular) at Jim Becker's shop at Osmun Music. You might give them a call to get a "horse's mouth" answer. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Why don't you use a good old method- just put your horn into bath with hot water and a bit of soap and to use horn brush? I think it is much safer than to use chemistry. _________________ Check out my scores: https://musescore.com/sheetmusic

Hot water is something people use to remove vintage lacquer so it might not be safer than chemistry.
In my opinion warm water is a better choice if the horn is lacquered, and limited time in the water. Ymmv |
