It is my understanding that when talking about picc leadpipes the terms Louisville and Blackburn are used to describe the same exact item. Is my understanding correct?

Both refer to the leadpipes now made by Pickett Brass in Kentucky, USA.

Cliff Blackburn made trumpets, branded "Blackburn" and leadpipes, branded "Louisville." Pickett (mouthpieces) took over in 2016, according to their blog.

I’ve always wondered, do they make these pipes using their ambronze alloy?

I have a Blackburn. Cliff Blackburn was in Louisville, Ky where he strted making Louisville Leadpipes. He later started building trumpets and moved to east Tennessee (Decatur).

My Blackburn has a Louisville leadpipe stamp on it. Cliff basically included it on his trumpets.

Now, what they do now at Pickett, not sure.

Here's an older Louisville (A) and recent Picket (Bb) side-by-side.

Has anyone compared the older pipes to the newer ones? I was thinking about getting silver plated A and Bb pipes for my piccolo, but I really love my Tina-made Louisville pipes.

I don't think I'm interested enough in getting some just to try, unless I know that they're pretty similar. (I probably will eventually, though)
