Hi!

I'm trying to help an older gentleman to find a trumpet similar to what he played on when he was young. As it was a Couesnon, I'm looking at French sites...

Never heard of it. The main site in France that I know is leboncoin.fr. Seems to work well and there are a lot of French brass instruments for sale there. Also don’t forget that Belgium, Luxembourg, or Switzerland have parts that have historically been quite close to France, not only language-wise. This may be another option.

Ricardo.ch occasionally has offers for French (Courtois, Selmer, …) instruments as well.

Try secondbrass.com, the owner has a good reputation and also typically has older instruments, including Courtois etc., for sale.

Hello,
I was not aware of the clasf site but as “Le bon coin” as far as I know there is no garantee of any kind.
With this kind of sites, I would buy something only if I can go at the seller’s place to try the horn (and take it with me!)
Regarding the Couesnon, IMO the best is to use the European E-Bays: French, German, Uk, Belgium, Switzerland. I see quite often Couesnon trumpets on the French E-Bay and it is far more secure.
Good luck!

Thanks!

We'll see what happens. None of those on ebay right now is interesting, I have a specific era and design to look for (1960-1980).

As far as I can see the trumpet can be @1970~1980 : same engraving on the bell than my Flugelhorn (bought used in 1981). The 1960 engraving is different ( my first trumpet was a Bb/C Couesnon bought by my parents @ 1962)
It is a “Monopole Conservatoire” not a “Monopole”. Not exactly the same.

That one on Rakuten, it looks like it's one of those C-trumpets with an extra Bb-tuning slide. There are a couple of those for sale right now. I'm looking for a traditional Bb.

Thanks, anyway!
