FROSTY THE SNOW”MEN” arranged by Evan Chop Henry

Question 1 - Want high notes? I guess all of you are on the "Nice List" because Santa came early this year - take a listen NOW, before Frosty melts!

Question 2 - What happens when you combine four “symphonic” players with two “jazzers”?

Well, when you have an arrangement like this by Evan Chop Henry, SPARKS FLY! Better watch out, Frosty - this one gets pretty hot!

We’re SURE you are all going to enjoy this arrangement, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t draw attention to the fact that everyone in this video feels comfortable playing in any style in which they are asked - hence the quotation marks around “symphonic” and “jazzers”.

If you are a student wondering where you fit in the current musical landscape - a good starting point at this moment when no one is working or auditioning might be to explore learning and getting comfortable playing in different styles.

Remember - if you only know one thing, you’re only useful to someone who needs that one thing. Expand your horizons and what you feel comfortable with - then your skill set suddenly becomes more valuable to a lot more people!

Thank you to Wesley Nance for bringing this arrangement to our attention. Evan was a trumpet student of Wesley's and got his start composing for the Eastman Community Music School Trumpet Ensemble. He is now a full-time composer residing in Eugene, OR.

Thank you to Tim Saeger for your video and audio editing... and burning high notes! We’d be nowhere without you!

Now - Happy Holidays from this all-California crew! Let’s make some holiday noise!

FROSTY THE SNOWMAN arranged by Evan Chop Henry

Lead Trumpet - Tim Saeger, San Diego based freelance musician and recording artist

2nd Trumpet - Christopher Smith, Principal Trumpet, San Diego Symphony

3rd Trumpet - Ray Nowak, 3rd Trumpet, San Diego Symphony

4th Trumpet - - Wesley Nance, 2nd Trumpet, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (yes it's that cold in Rochester, NY that Wesley had to wear a coat and hat INDOORS)

5th/Solo Trumpet - John Reynolds, San Diego based freelance musician and Associate Director of Instrumental Music, Orange County School of the Arts. John can also be heard playing with his group every Tuesday night at Madison on Park here in San Diego.

Drums - Erin Dowrey, Percussion, San Diego Symphony

I believe John Reynolds plays on one of Adam Rapa’s Lotus Bb Trumpets.
