|
|
Hello,
Someone in my country (not near me, though) listed this flugel and this picture of a copper bell Blessing flugel.
I've just searched the web for Blessing flugel pictures and I couldn't find a single picture like this one.
So, if you guys can help me identify it...
Is this a Blessing flugel?
Which model?
How does it play?
Thank you! |

This looks like a Blessing flugel alright: https://www.dillonmusic.com/blessing-bfh-1541t-artist-series-flugelhorn/
I have never played it but at the time there were a few endorsers and it was well received, iirc.
I was interested in it but never found one to play (or buy) and if the valves are anything like they are on my Blessing in the signature, they will be super robust but a smidge slower than e.g. Bach valves. Rather hard springs, too, but that is an easy fix.
Not sure if the bell is copper, though. I’d guess it’s red brass. _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

It looks like a B-154R. It is a 0.460" bore. I believe the 1541 model was made after the Blessing name was sold to Saint Louis Music. |

Goldplate is correct.
Blessing is having most everything produced overseas these days and the flugels I played a while back were not of the high standard assembly of the Blessings of old. I suppose they are a decent value but if you're in the market for a solid playing flugelhorn made like the classic French designs, get in touch with Trent Austin. His are tremendous values and he makes sure they play up to his very high standards.
