|
|
I have two Selmer piccolo trumpets, both the Maurice Andre model, and each with a set of pipes, Bb/A. But the pipes look different. Neither are marked.
This first pair seem to resemble the Selmer pipes I see in many other photos online:

I am wondering if this second set is merely a different generation of Selmer pipe, or an unmarked after-market pipe.

If it is an after-market pipe, I would love to know what. Any thoughts?
Thank you!

The second set of pipes matches those that came with my Selmer, serial # 77xxx, if I recall correctly (don’t have it at hand currently).
I have seen other Selmer pipes with knobs or “ears” on the receiver end.

The first image are of older style leadpipe, the second newer one - I’ve been told they were Louisville sourced, but don’t know if that’s correct. The later version played much better for me.
They are hat came on my new Selmer picc in 1984…
Cheers

The first set matches my 1977 Selmer picc S/N 667xx. The A pipe is not bad.
Never seen the second set, probably 3rd party.

The second photo are the same as my current Selmer and it was made in 1984.
The first photo are the version before that.
Further back they had two knobs for gripping them, like an old cornet shank.
The later version, pic 2, are a lot better and resolve the issues that a lot of the after market pipes were designed to fix. So if you have the later version I don't see any reason to use different ones. _________________ Bb - Scherzer 8218W, Schilke S22, Bach 43, Selmer 19A Balanced
