Ghitalla is sounding really strong here in addition to his typical expressive style. The concert date is from right around the time he retired from Boston. I would love to hear more from the concert. I eagerly await the next posting!

There is a recording with E. Power Biggs and Ghitalla doing the Heroic music dating from 1962. Do you have it?

I would love to hear that. I can’t find it in my library or on Apple Music.

Did AG perform these on C trumpet? The first on in particular really sounds like a smaller trumpet, probably a D trumpet? Just curious if you know.
Possibly it's just the recording but the sound is quite bright and compact.
Although I think C trumpets used to be brighter sounding instruments in general. Would love to know either way!

I would imagine he was using something smaller than a C. Could even be a piccolo, or perhaps a F/G piccolo.

Did Telemann originally compose the marches for trumpet & organ?

I've played these for many many years, and don't believe the trumpet at the time could have played them.

I seem to recall the instrument wasn't specified. Could have been played on oboe, violin, recorder, etc.

The final of 12.
Look for the playlist of all of them on my YouTube channel.
Enjoy!
