When playing two octaves (plus), up and down as in the atch. “#3 Harmonics”, is the goal playing the lowest to highest notes, smearing the intervening harmonics or should each harmonic tone be sounded securely?

In order to do that, at least for me, I would need to play the slurs slowly. If I'm smearing them, more quickly. That is, I'm concentrating on the lowest and highest notes and just letting the intervening notes happen, more as a consequence of the slur.

Which is best? Thanks.

#3 Harmonics

Moved from the Adam forum to the Caruso forum. Adam didn’t advocate CC calisthenics.

Quarter note=60-80. Tap foot. Subdivide. Follow the four rules. Aim for perfect rhythm at a slow tempo.

Thanks, Pat. I guess The Daily Caruso goes in the, duh, Caruso forum.

Yes. The Four Rules.

Sometimes I asked my students to think of the last 16th subdivision as a pickup to the next note. i sometimes would actually swell up that 16th note as a pickup.

It is all about coordinating the muscles and the brain signals. Eventually when playing music it just happens.
