I do not believe that the Selmer is a picc. I think it is actually an e flat soprano cornet. I base this on the size, wrap and the presence of the crook in the bell. Maybe someone else knows if Selmer ever made such a horn. I couldn’t find any examples on the web. |

Definitely not a piccolo but not sure if is a Bb or Eb cornet, I found that the serial number is around 1947-1951.

Looking at it again I agree it could be a B flat cornet. I think my first opinion was overly influenced by it having been defined as a piccolo trumpet. |

Thanks , yes I found it about the Conn and I am very curious to try it , must be a heavy horn , but I can't find anything about the Selmer, everything I found is for long K modified versions but nothing for older short shepherd crook models and I am very curious about the bore?

I know that you have dated the Selmer to the early 1950's using the serial number and the case looks about right for that period but the horn looks like an older design with the detachable lead pipe. When you get it I hope that you will report what you find, especially what key it is. I started thinking it could even be a C cornet and perhaps could have been multi key with different lead pipes. |

I have the same thoughts, I don't know if they made C cornets at this period and never saw again a Selmer cornet with detachable leadpipe.
For sure I will post all the infos when it arrives and I hope to be a Bb instrument since I don't have any need for C or Eb cornet.
