I watched a youtube video of Mark Isham "Cannes Film Festival 2020" (pretty neat video). I was wondering what flugelhorn he was using at approximately 10:15 in. I'm thinking he's using a Monette trumpet and Mouthpiece. I think he is also using a Monette mp for the flugel also. I read on twitter that he had a couesnon alto flugel, but in this video he is using something different. AND what mute is he using.
Sorry for all the questions. I was just introduced to him yesterday (im kinda slow) lol.
Thanks for the responses. |

That’s a great video.. I love mark isham
It’s amazing he can keep his chops so nicely with his film scoring schedule.
He is great at many things, and he is really musical. And a trumpet geek too. His collection of horns and vintage things is cool.
On the van Morrison live at Montreux he plays some cool horns including a very old cornet, old pic, martin committee, etc. That is a great concert by the way to watch all the through _________________ Mouthpiece Maker

That's a Monette flugelhorn. The sheet plus wire bracing in the bell branch is unmistakable. Here's a page about it on the Monette website:

He's using a Harmon-style (AKA "wah-wah") mute with the plunger removed, but I can't tell what brand. |

Hi,
I saw some videos Mark Isham posted on his equipment and they are really cool, he discusses trumpets, piccolo, flugel, and also his recording equipment and synthetizers.
Check those out.
Regards.
