I watched a youtube video of Mark Isham "Cannes Film Festival 2020" (pretty neat video). I was wondering what flugelhorn he was using at approximately 10:15 in. I'm thinking he's using a Monette trumpet and Mouthpiece. I think he is also using a Monette mp for the flugel also. I read on twitter that he had a couesnon alto flugel, but in this video he is using something different. AND what mute is he using.

Sorry for all the questions. I was just introduced to him yesterday (im kinda slow) lol.

Thanks for the responses.

That’s a great video.. I love mark isham
It’s amazing he can keep his chops so nicely with his film scoring schedule.
He is great at many things, and he is really musical. And a trumpet geek too. His collection of horns and vintage things is cool.

On the van Morrison live at Montreux he plays some cool horns including a very old cornet, old pic, martin committee, etc. That is a great concert by the way to watch all the through

That's a Monette flugelhorn. The sheet plus wire bracing in the bell branch is unmistakable. Here's a page about it on the Monette website:

He's using a Harmon-style (AKA "wah-wah") mute with the plunger removed, but I can't tell what brand.

Hi,

I saw some videos Mark Isham posted on his equipment and they are really cool, he discusses trumpets, piccolo, flugel, and also his recording equipment and synthetizers.

Check those out.

Regards.
Joe
