Hi Everybody,
It's been a while. I thought I would share a video with you all of my dog Samson during better days (when he was still alive). He passed away from cancer this past February 25th and my wife Anne and I am still grieving quite hard here. He used to love to howl along when I played and when I gave Skype Lessons. He definitely enjoyed it, as he would walk across from one side of our house to the other to be in close proximity to me playing.
Best wishes,
John Mohan

You have my sincerest sympathies. Pets can have vivid personalities and emotions, and our bonds with them can be very strong. I know what you are feeling, believe me. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

Condolences, John. Our lab/border collie Cora also likes to join me with a hearty Woo-wOOO every now and then. She's 13, so the preciousness of her existence is very. very clear in ways it may not have been before. |

It is amazing how much it hurts to lose a beloved pet. I lost my cat to cancer years ago and it still hurts when I think about it.
Please accept my condolences. |

My current dog is only the second one who has experienced my attempts at playing. The previous one didn't object, but the current pooch seems to thrive on it. Whenever I brush my teeth he heads to the door by the trumpet room, and frequently lies at my side while I play. If it's late in the day, and I haven't played, he gives me a look like "haven't you forgotten something?"
I'm not a high note player, and if I manage to get above high C he lets out a painful whine. That's my excuse for not trying to play high notes.
BTW, he's a rescue that we named Bix.
Condolences, John. Dogs bring so much into our lives, and they're always gone too soon. _________________ Getzen Eterna 700, Eterna 800

It hurts when we lose our beloved fur-buddies. I've never had a dog or cat who wanted to be in the music room when I practiced (which is probably an accurate indication of my abilities), but at least they settled on leaving the room and then suffering in silence (as long as I closed the door).
My sympathies -- it always hurts to say goodbye to them. _________________ J. Notso Nieuwguyski |

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. What a fellow.....
I don't have pets myself for various reasons. However, some years ago, I gave in-house trumpet lessons to a student of mine. They had a lovely well behaved yellow lab.
I knew we were playing and sounding good when he'd lay on our feet during the lesson.
Again, sorry to hear about your loss. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

So sorry to hear about your buddy; it’s like losing a family member in some cases…they are all so individual they can’t be replaced but always remembered… |

Wondering if others run into the problem of less incentive to go out and get 'another' dog, though I've seen some who don't hesitate and it seems to work out well. A couple up the road keep two dogs all the time, and multiple dogs for them has the advantage that when one goes, the impact is less. Diligence, time on phone for either rescue, or breeder, of several calls, and when you add up everything, exercise, training, vet care, ticks, and 5 years later the dog is becoming a senior, bonded to you, and vice versa. A serious commitment.
Maybe it's just me, w/ the idea of being done with dogs.

When I moved out of my last house (my first house), I gave my cat away to a nice family. I don't miss the house much, but I do miss the cat. She used to hop on my lap and take naps with me! _________________ Please join me as well at:
