Hi everyone,

I am looking for a chance to compare the top of the line piston Bb trumpets: Yamaha Artist, Bach Artisan and Schilke Soloiste series.

London seems like a good place to find a shop which might have these in stock and I will go there anyway in May.

Any recommendations?

The last thread on the question seems to be from 2006

Is https://philparker.co.uk/ still the number one brass store in London?

Did anyone visit the Yamaha shop https://www.yamahamusiclondon.com/?

Thanks in advance!

Parker’s is far and away your best bet. Call them first to check their stock list. Pro zone are very good but they are based in Chesham which is a big step out of town.

If you have time, visit both shops. I've been to both, although it was a couple of years ago.

The Yamaha shop had a good staff, but unfortunately few horns and nowhere to try them out - just the showroom floor amongst the pianos and other instruments.

Phil Parker's had a much bigger selection and practice rooms downstairs you could use. The staff was knowledgeable, which you'd expect of a brass specialty shop.

I popped into Parker's when I was visiting London. I had an excellent experience. Top notch folk in there. I don't expect much has changed but they had an excellent selection of high end trumpets.

Thanks everyone for chiming in!

I spend more than 3 hours at Phil Parker's and had a fantastic time. Very nice and helpful folks. I made an appointment, and they told me in advance which of the models, that I was interested in, they had in stock.

Got to try a large variety of Bach, Schilke, Yamaha and Shires instruments. Ultimately the Yamaha Chicago Bb was the clear winner for me, but the difference compared to my old B&S was not big enough to justify the price tag (for now).
