Through painful trial and error I’ve finally learned to do a decent warmup before working on my high register otherwise my chops blow out. Now I’m wondering, why is it that tired chops can spring back so quickly with just a two-beat rest, only to tire out again after a few measures, then spring back again so quickly after another tiny break? What’s going on in the lips that causes such a quick reaction either way? |
