Found a silver Machiavelli trumpet for $25 near me. Wanted to second one that can afford to be beaten up a little for marching band, is it any good? Thanks! I don’t know if I’m allowed but I could try to post links to the pictures.[/list] |

I've never heard of them and googling Machiavelli Trumpets does not bring up a website so I'm going to go out on a limb and say... no.
If you want a decent cheap second trumpet for marching band stuff get a Olds Ambassador or maybe a Conn Director. _________________ 1932 King Silvertone cornet

Almost certainly a rando stencil horn.
It's probably worth $25, maybe.
Given my opinion on marching band, I'd say that's a good match. But, if you want a better beater trumpet, just get any older, cheaper student by a well known brand (King, Conn, Olds, Holton, Getzen, Bach, etc) for $75-150 and call it good. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

They're not to be trusted.
That's a joke.
Impossible to say without playing one. Could be perfectly usable, might be suitable only for use as a lamp or a wall hanger. I have a Besson 1000 that's theoretically a "student" instrument, plays fantastic.
I too get no hit other than this thread. Are you sure you have the name right?
25 bucks in silver plate - if it plays passably, valves are good, no leaks it sounds like you couldn't find a more suitable "beater" for marching band, which isn't to say I advocate abusing any musical instrument, even a wall hanger.
If it holds you back then even if it's free it's useless. _________________ Getzen Eterna Severinsen

I haven't encountered a Machiavelli trumpet, but I've met a number of Machiavellian trumpet players. |

You beat me to the punch, Liberty. Anybody that has a guy playing a Machiavelli in the section better keep looking over his shoulder. _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

Yeah I couldn’t find it anywhere else either, but in the picture it definitely says Machiavelli. Thanks for the advice, I might check it out a little more. |
