The quote means that muscle memory weakens over time without practice. This is very much correct. Otherwise, no one would need to continue practicing to maintain a high level of functioning. Every trumpeter must practice.

An 8 followed by a ) is interpreted as a sunglasses-wearing smilie unless you have the option “Disable Smilies in this post” checked.

If you edit your original post, check that option, and save you should see the 8) you were expecting.

No, it isn’t. The quote is confusing endurance with coördination. Muscle memory is extremely persistent, to the extent where people can sometimes perform tasks they haven’t done for a long time.
