This past week it was my pleasure to see one of the first copies of a new book by researcher Ron Berndt (who authored the highly informative "Trumpet Timeline"). The new book, "Vincent Bach and his Trumpets", is a masterpiece of research providing copious data on Bach serial numbers, dates, etc. From Amazon, and surprisingly affordable.

I am flattered beyond words that R. Dale Olson, author, former head of R&D at FE Olds, trumpet designer, noted expert on the psychological component in play testing, and friend & biographer of Zig Kanstul, chose to make his first ever post on TH to call attention to Vincent Bach and his Trumpets.

After the first 24 days of availability on Amazon, significantly more copies of this book have been ordered than were ordered of Timeline of Trumpets in the first 24 months. I have to believe Dale's kind words played a role in that level of notice. Thank you Dale.

Hello Ron, I purchased and read the book this week. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to having it as a handy reference. I even used to verify identity of one of those Bach Strads sent over the USSR in Dec 1945.

And it helped to clear up why the Mt. Vernon Bach I have plays so much better with the tuning slide out an inch!

Thanks for all of the hard work in putting the book together for us!

I just finished reading this great book. It is well written, and is full of information...History, politics, union activities, technical aspects of trumpet-making, and of course Bach's story of overcoming challenges to create a legendary product. Thank you, Ron Berndt.
