This is a fantastic etude to practice accuracy while playing short. If you strive for as short as possible, you will hear immediately if you are playing down the middle of the horn. Good luck!

When it comes to fast etudes - balancing speed with accuracy and clarity is key. Hopefully I sufficiently achieved all three with this short etude!

Well done, Chris. Dang, I hate listening to you. It confirms we're in distinctly different leagues.

Very well done!

Yet another etude written by Phil Collins that seems like an instant “classic” trumpet etude. If you have this book, I hope you enjoy working on this one as much as I did!

If a lullaby was written for the trumpet (and wouldn’t wake the baby) - I would imagine it sounding like this.

When trying to keep things light and with a lilt - experiment with employing a long double tongue. Daaah kah dah. Have fun with this one and try not to get too bogged down in the articulation!

Think of this one as a “beginners guide” to Charlier 2. Don’t meander around the horn, but rather move with intention!

Beautiful sound & control! Kudos.

I emailed Phil through his site to get this book...no luck yet. Anyone know where to purchase a copy?

A good one for practicing faster and lighter single tonguing.

Once you get the clearest possible articulations and the accents sorted out - remember to have fun with this one!

This one will really work those wide interval slurs. The good news is that you get to work on them relatively slowly. Blow through them and keep the music walking forward!

If ever there was an etude that sounded like it needed words sung to it - this one is it!

The faster the notes, the greater the need for clarity - especially if they are slurred. Take the time to really make the slurred notes “pop” - as if you were articulating each note!

If you thought you needed fast and clean fingers and articulations on #94 - wait till you hear #95!

Probably the fastest etude in the book… so I recorded it 2 times just for good measure. Remember, folks - speed kills!
