Hey folks,

Not sure I’m on exactly the forum for this request that I should be ….? I’m just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction for a transcription of John Williams trumpet solo, namely the ‘Promenade’ music from Jaws! I have tried an internet search but no joy. I’ve always loved this particular solo but only relatively recently wondered about whether it would be available in the public domain, somewhere?! Given the fruitless results of recent searches I’m obviously doubtful, but then I thought if anyone could help it would be someone on this fine site! 👍😃🎺. If only I had a ‘good ear’!! Maybe I could work it out from the score CD, by ear, but I’m doubtful in my ability there. So, hoping for help/advise please.

Kindest regards,
Donald 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎺

There is a book with all the John Williams Trumpet Solos. Can’t remember it’s title. I’ll take a look later to see what the Jaws piece is called.

Just buy a piano arrangement and play the melody on C trumpet? Or transpose.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your responses 👍. Just to clarify, it’s not the Jaws theme that I’m looking for, it’s the jaunty trumpet tune that plays on the score when the tourists are on the beach, I think that the track on the soundtrack album is called ‘tourists on the menu’ …. 🎺

Any thoughts or directions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Kind regards,

It won't be public domain for a long time.

If it's not available in a printed collection, then transcribing it for your own personal use is the best option. You doubt your abilities to transcribe, all the more reason then to transcribe it. It's a good skill to have in your arsenal.

Hey guys,

Many thanks 👍. Yes, that YouTube video is the music that I’m talking about, Promenade (Tourists on the menu), also titled Montage 😃👍. Any help from anyone would still be appreciated!

Kind regards,

Hi jicetp,

Thank you so much! 😃. That’s brilliant!! I just have to sit with some manuscript paper now and get it all down, then transpose it. I’m assuming it’s originally written for C trumpets? Obviously going to be quite high on my B flat, certainly for my technical abilities just now! 😜🤪

Thank you again, so good of you!

Regards,
