Be ready when they call a classic big band chart with a solo you should know.

Here's a source for 42 of them transcribed in trumpet key from the original recordings. Includes a discography of the tunes.

A big thanks to Dale Gibson who did the transcribing.

Hmmm....

The Wendell Culley solo in Lil Darlin' is written on the first and fourth parts, so it doesn't seem entirely necessary. (Trivial side, I played with a tenor player who worked with the late Marguerite Hefti - the Lil Darlin' of the title)

However, when I play it, I usually don't play the ink completely - I add some bits from the Ray Anthony solo.

I also prefer unmuted flugel to muted trumpet
