|
|
Greetings!
I am looking for help with two vintage Buescher trumpets that were part of an inheritance. I don't know the first thing about trumpets (I play the saxophone and the piano), but I do know about Buescher saxophones at least (I actually do happen to play a Buescher).
The instruments in question are "Aristocrat" models, one being a "Custom Built" and the other being labeled an "Aristocrat Special". The custom is lacquered, the special is silver plated with gold wash bell. The custom built is model 236, while the special is model 222.
I can post some pictures.
Since I have no use for them, I would like to sell them, preferably someone who has some appreciation for Bueschers. At least in the saxophone world, Bueschers stand in high regard, but are comparatively "undervalued", considering how good they are (IMHO, the 400 or "Big B" models give any Selmer a run for their money, but thats besides the point ).
I assume similar holds true with trumpets, so I am certainly not expecting to get rich on those two.
Any input on what I actually got there would be very much appreciated. Thanks! |

There's good info on the Buescher Loyalist site:
http://www.buescherloyalist.com/Buescher%20235%20236%20custom%20built.html
http://www.buescherloyalist.com/Buescher%20222.html
Both are 1930's style "pea shooter" trumpets, with a tight wrap and smaller bores. To the right person, they are nice instruments, they just won't sound like a modern trumpet. And both are more interesting and collectible than the later "Aristocrats" which were student level instruments. _________________ 1932 King Silvertone Artist Bore

There's a user here named VetPsychWars who probably knows more about Buescher trumpets than the rest of trumpetherald combined. I'm sure he'll be able to answer any questions you have.
As for your trumpets, it kinda depends on the date of manufacturing (you may be able to find out through dating the serial numbers) but if they're somewhat older, they're probably good players (kinda like how you describe the Buescher saxes). _________________ 1975 Olds Recording trumpet

He has a Model 217 Lightweight 400. I'd be contacting him about it if I were you.
