Yep!
He’s been shredding on this for years - this particular video being on the first-ever Monette Raja. I’m so happy that transcriptions of some of his unimaginably virtuosic improvisations, like this, are getting out there, because it’s the WORK he’s doing that is so important for jazz trumpet practitioners. (The audience is free to be impressed by the overall spectacle without bothering themselves about *how* it’s all done) The notion of trying to get through a solo like this, as a practicable piece of virtuosic etude writing is one thing…but to come up with it on the spot…and to have some 30 years of riffs on this infamous tune and its changes is what makes WM the legend he is.
