Hi all,

New member here. Just picked up a used Yamaha for a steal. I used to play guitar but had to give it up do to hand problems. Excited to get back into music again.

Thanks for having me.

Cheers,

Paul

Welcome! Are you a beginner on trumpet? An absolute beginner? That's great! Do give us updates on your experience. As many will say here, a wise move is to find a good specialist trumpet teacher in your area to guide you.

Had my first lesson last night. It went pretty well. I am pleased with how my trumpet adventure is going so far.

I’m back! I have played sparingly, or not at all, since selling my horn in my last year of college. Aside from buying a Benge FL3, in a midlife crisis panic, and only playing it briefly, I have not worked on a piece since 1980. After 2 lessons on the Flugelhorn I broke down and bought a Jerome Callet Grand Prix Trumpet and I love it. I’m excited to begin a very long journey back to playing. I’m enjoying the forum, so far, and look forward to visiting often.

When I stopped playing I was using a Shulke 13A4A so I could keep playing the lead or first part. But on my return I have turned to a Bach 3C and am determined to improve my tone and technique.

Since quitting trumpet I took up the keyboards…playing chords out of fake books…so my knowledge of chord progressions is much deeper than when I quit playing at 22. I so want to improve to the point that I can improvise.

So happy to be here, improving my knowledge.

I'm new(ish) here too! After becoming a general music teacher and having kids, the trumpet playing kind of fell off. I remember this being a great community to be part of and have even purchased a trumpet off of here! I'm happy to be back!
