Hey gang,

I’m curious about the lesser-known variant of the Schilke P5-4. I’ve never even seen one in person, let alone played one.

Anyone own one or have played one? Thoughts on how it stacks up to the other Schilke Piccolos? I’m not as interested in the “playing in G” feature, but a moveable 3rd slide and an extra 4th slide could be useful.

Hey N

I had a P5-4 for years that was a GREAT horn! I'm not familiar with a variant as you are describing, but it sounds interesting.

If you'll call Andy Naumann at Schilke, I'm sure he'd be glad to fill you in with facts...he's a great guy and a UNT grad.

Hope all is well!
Rick

The Schilke P5-4 B/G also has a moveable third (and first) slide. It plays very well indeed, although I should note I mostly use it with a Blackburn pipe.
