Sorry Richard. I was just trying to be helpful to my other TH members, such as you.

That's okay. I probably don't need another horn. _________________ Richard

Trent from ACB has a nice video on the cornet . I think this might be a long model cornet - not a trumpet. |

You are correct. I own both the Cornet and Trumpet versions. On the cornet, the brace between the receiver and the bell crook is perpendicular to the receiver, while on the trumpet it is at an acute angle. Also, on the trumpet, the clearance between the third valve slide and the main tuning slide is a lot tighter than it is on the cornet.
The horn in the link provided by the OP clearly has the characteristics of the cornet version. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

Ha! I might jump in if the water doesn’t get overheated. I think they are neat horns but I am OK if I never own one. |

Come to think of it, who cares if it's an Airflow? It's got mother of pearl buttons . . . and it's from "Paris"!!

Given that the seller doesn't identify the horn as an Airflow, it's quite possible that the water will not get overheated. I once snagged a Jean d'Eve kinetic quartz watch (one of the first on the market, and a very distinctive design) for 1/3 the price it could have brought if the seller had properly identified it as a "Samara". _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . Yes, it's a York Airflow cornet. It's in rough shape but a York Airflow cornet is a very rare horn. The trumpet version is even more rare than the cornet version. _________________ HERMOKIWI |

This is the kind of eBay listing where the bid price rabbits up in the last 12-24 hours. I was watching a Reynolds Professional trumpet a few months ago, sterling silver bell, gorgeous engraving, very, very good condition, sit at a few hundred dollars for almost the entirety of the listing period. I think it ultimately sold for close to $2,000. _________________ 1936 King Liberty No. 2

We'll see. I'd agree with you 100% if the seller knew enough to identify the horn as an "Airflow" somewhere in the listing.

The seller would think so, if they knew what they had. _________________ "He that plays the King shall be welcome . . . " (Hamlet Act II, Scene 2, Line 1416)

There are 71 watchers. The final price will not be in the 200’s…
Unless something prevents me, I fix my bid in my mind and place it during the last 10-20 seconds. That’s the only rational way to bid, in my opinion. |

There was a delicious Reynolds Contempora Leonard Smith that had been sitting at a lovely price X for ~60% of its listing time. Now it is at 3X with about 36 hours to go. Phooey. Oh well. I got such a ferocious deal on my Argenta earlier this year that I can't really complain - and I have zero need for both an Argenta and a Contempora, since they are identical designs with different alloys (nickel silver versus bronze). _________________ 1936 King Liberty No. 2
