A (very) cursory glance at their website would indicate Wick only has one cup depth for their flugelhorn mouthpieces. Several other brands offer different depths, though. I bounce between a Curry 1FL-M (their shallowest flugel mouthpiece; recently replaces by their "jazz" cup) and a Curry 1FL-D (their deepest mouthpiece) depending on the music I'm playing. Yamaha's Bobby Shew flugel mouthpiece is efficient and produces a gorgeous tone, but it was a little small in inner diameter for my tastes (16.54mm or .651 inches, which is like a 5 in Bachspeak?). I know Trent has three cup depths with his flugel mouthpiece line. Etc., etc.

Denis Wick 5884-2BFL is perhaps what you are looking for:

Not as deep as 2FL.

Maybe I should clarify. I like the sound of the 2FL and would like the upper register to be just a bit more efficient. I need a better high D at minimum.

Are there other options that have a similar sound but just play better?
I’m not married to the idea of it being a wick. In fact I rather it not be since it probably means a better rim.

So far the curry FLD seems to be the closest I know of.

I love my Curry 1FL-D but I would not choose it to have a solid high D on flugelhorn. Your mileage may vary, of course! I also don't use it that much; most of my flugel playing wants a lighter sound, so I play the FL-M (again, now the FL-Jazz) the vast majority of the time.

Have you considered ordering a modular mouthpiece in which you would re-use the 2FL cup and backbore, and add your preferred screw-on rim?

If Flip Oakes is still in business you might try his flugel pieces. They are (were?) made by Curry and have (had?) identical rims, but with cups and bores even more generous than Wick's.
I have my doubts however about playing high D's on a flugel, does it still sound like a flugel up there?

That Dude, you might consider trying a mouthpiece made by the manufacturer of your flugel. I have tried different brands on my Yamaha, but the Yamaha mouthpieces work the best. Flugelhorn mpcs and receivers tend to change dimensions depending on the brand, so the Wick could be poorly matched to your horn. Plus the Wick is really deep, so high notes are going to be more difficult.

Reeves HF cup has ultra dark smoky sound but it has also a #20 throat that is perfect balanced with the huge deep V cup and supports great the high registers , not a commercial flugel piece like Reeves F cup but definitely the most efficient extra deep flugel piece I ever try.

Regards

Companies like Pickett/Blackburn, Stork and Curry make flugelhorn mouthpieces in various depths. I haven't played a Wick flugelhorn mouthpiece, so cannot comment on how they compare, but you could reach out to them for advice.

I play a Stork 3FLS when I need to play in the upper register, and a Stork 3FL when I'm more in the middle/low register.

Good luck!

Phil Parker 1, but the rim is wider.
Unfortunately these are no longer made but they are killer flugel mouthpieces.

Take a look at Alliance mouthpieces:

I got mine (3FL) from Thomann:
