Anyone tried one of these?

https://osmun.com/heavy-3rd-slide-stop-pin-for-bach/

Has anyone experienced these lines from the product description to be the case?

"For all Bach C trumpets. Increases stability and definition without sacrificing tone color. Especially effective in taming the third space C on Bach 229-25H instruments."

$25 feels quite steep for a screw, but I'd be curious if anyone out there swears by it....

I have not tried it, but by the description it sounds like another variation on harmonic balancers (pennies on the pendulum)

I have one on my Schilke A2C cornet. I wouldn't say the difference is dramatic, but it does what it says.

I don't own a Bach C trumpet anymore, but had one on mine and thought it made a slight difference (as described). I have one on my Schilke Bb now, and would say the same thing.

The 'Snake oil" from the James Becker era at Osmun works.

He knows what he's doing and does it well.

Thanks for all the feedback!

From the comments here, it sounds like it's a small but worthwhile improvement for my Bach. Will add it to my wish list!

Cheers,

AC

Yes, I have one.. primarily the appeal was to have a slide stop that is far easier to grab than the original. However the tonal affect is undeniable.

But we should know by now that weight and tension in added or subracted have an impact on the trumpets respone.

James Becker is a master - I'd buy any "snake oil" he suggests

That was my primary reason as well. It makes it a lot easier to quickly remove and empty the third valve slide. Same with Schilke and Shires horns.
