Happy Thanksgiving all!

Curious if anyone out there has played "Something Rotten"? Just got a call to play it with one of the local theaters this spring. After a little research on MTI's website it looks like the trumpet book includes Bb, Flugel, as well as both A and Bb pic; which is great since this theater pays doubling. Listened to the cast recording on YouTube and it sounds like a fun mix of styles.

Just wanted to see if anyone had played this show and their impressions of the book. I did a forum search and didn't see anything but if anyone knows of a thread discussing this show I would love to read it!

Cheers,

-JK

From my show notes:

Bb, Flugel, Picc in A & Bb. The Bb segment is 4-ms long in the Exit music. Very easily played with picc in A.
Switching is easy. Exit is kinda quick but doable.

C#, Ds, Ebs, Es, one glissed octave F, one “tasteless and over the top” glissed octave Bb to dubba Bb.

Straight, cup, Harmon (no stem) plunger
Mute management is fairly good. A few very quick changes.

Mostly easy page turns - no surprises.

The engraving and book setup is outstanding - the way all books should be done.

A fun show. Uses quotes from approximately 40 other shows.

Thanks Tim, your posts are always very helpful and anytime I'm asked to play a show one of my first stops is a search on TH to see if you have a summary post on the show. Appreciate your willingness to share your experience with us here!

Cheers,

-JK
