I'm thinking of getting away from my Jo-ral cup mute. Does anyone have any experience of the Ingram cup vs the Huber cup mute? I know both are based off the Ray Robinson cup mute.

The Huber Adjusta-Cup with the felt-lined Robinson-type cup -- which is the same configuration as the Huber fixed cup -- has a similar, but slightly "fluffier" sound to the Ingram MuteMeister cup.

Both offer reasonable approximations of a Ray Robinson, though neither is exact, as both the Huber and the MuteMeister are a blend of Ray Robinson and Shastock design elements rather than true replicas.

Both are terrific mutes, though from my perspective, the Huber Adjusta-Cup is also a fantastic value. If you buy all three cups ($25 each) for the Adjusta-Cup body, you have a mute that can sound like a H&B, Ray Robinson or Shastock, and offers the added versatility of being adjustable.

I'm looking at the Huber fixed cup not the adjustable. Most people I talked to recommend that over the adjustable.

The Huber fixed cup has the felt-lined Ray Robinson-style cup. Without any adjustment to the corks it fits tight to the bell on horns with a 37-style bell, and a bit more open on horns with a 43-style bell. The Fixed Cup and the Adjusta-Cup -- with the cup tight to the bell -- have an almost identical sound that is "fluffier" than the Mute Meister.

Right now I don't have a Bach, just my vintage Kings in my sig. When I do get a Bach again it will probably be a 72 bell.

So right now it's my 65 silver sonic and 66 silver Flair. I might have to adjust the corks if I go with either. Eventually might have to go with multiple once I get my Bach.
