Help Identifying N.Y. Symp Spec. C.G.Conn Trumpet

I need some help identifying my grandfather's old trumpet which he would have probably started playing around 1945. The inscription on the lead pipe reads "N.Y. Symp. Spec." and the serial number is impossible to read because it has been smoothed over somehow. The serial number seems like it would be just above the "patented" on the 2nd valve case since there is a faint vertical discoloration there. It has no pinky ring or 3rd valve ring. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The Symphony Specials were really nice horns. The one I had was quality, you could tell in the valve action, slides, and the sound as well.The site linked above, the Conn Loyalist, is a tremendous source of help. You can look there and find a great amount of valuable info. Good luck!
