Hmm...
I have one. It feels a lot like the 14B4, but deeper. So, sure. A 5B with a different rim. If you like the idea of the 5B, but don't get along with the rim (there was another thread about this) might be worth a shot.
Given the 14B4 is similar to a 3C, it's kind of like a deeper 3C. _________________ LA Benge 3X Bb Trumpet

I own a 14B4 GP, a 14C4 and a 14D4. I think the 14D4 is one of the best Yamaha mouthpieces, I played it for quite some time. Only recently I switched to the 14C4 because the 14D4 just sounded a bit too symphonic dark and I wanted more room for sound manipulation and also a more’vocal’ sound.
But the 14D4 seems to work out for quite some people as a better 5B.
The 14B4 is IMO more a bigband mouthpiece. |
