I have been working Jeff Smiley's Balanced Embouchure for several years. It has been a big help to me.

It is designed to be a self guided approach to working out what embouchure works for you. It doesn't tell you how to form an embouchure. It is a book of guided exercises that will lead you to finding what embouchure works best for you if you work through the exercises as directed. You can also send video clips of yourself playing the exercises and he will review them and help you learn to play the exercises as intended or you can get online lessons with him.

I highly recommend using the Balanced Embouchure approach.

I think you should take a lesson with Bryan Davis or Roger Ingram. Do what they tell you to, religiously. It sounds like you are working too hard, and need to address your fundamental approach to the horn.

While zoom is possible, there's nothing like being in the room with them. I think if you are serious about fixing your playing you should make the effort to go and see them.

Another teacher whom I cannot personally vouch for (I haven't studied with him) is Peter Bond - his book "The Singing Trumpet" is superb, and his pedagogy and teaching is extremely well respected. Taking a lesson with him is on my bucket list, but being in Ireland is somewhat prohibitive. He has videos on trumpet stuff online... digest them all

I saw both Roger and Bryan in New York nearly 10 years ago, and I keep touch with Bryan for checkups/help and his advice has been incredibly beneficial to me.

Good luck!
Mike
