Hello everyone

Just a quick presentation. I'm a french guy (first of all, sorry for my english) in my 30s.
Never be a musician, just make some fun with a guitar and a piano when i was younger but never very serious about it.

For the 2023 I have decided to be more serious and start the trumpet (with a teacher 30min each week, and of course daily work at home). Why ? I can't really tell. Of course I like music, lot of different king of music (indie rock, movie score, jazz fusion, funk, soul, classical...), but I just thought that trumpet look like fun to learn.

And after a first month i can tell it's even funnier that i thought. Of course it's hard, but it has exactly what i was looking for, a really playful way to learn. Because even the first sound, the first note need to explore, to try, and then to train. I like that a lot.
I like the technical aspect that i can only glimpse.
Plus, with the learning of the trumpet i will also learn to have a better breath and above all, more patience

Of course it's only the very beginning of a long long trip (i hope), but for now i love it, and i came here to learn more, and share the same love.

Regards.

Good for you! Hope your learning progresses well, and don’t give up if you feel like your are not improving as fast as you want. Stick with it and it will come.

It is good that you have a teacher - there are many 'wrong ways to play' that seem to work, but will cause problems later. A teacher should help you learn the 'right ways'.

If your teacher gives you suggestions about 'how to DO things', you might also ask 'what should I feel when I'm doing it correctly?'

Good luck, and tell us how your playing and lessons go.

Most Important Note ? - the next one !
KNOW (see) what the next note is BEFORE you have to play it.
PLAY the next note 'on time' and 'in rhythm'.
Oh ya, watch the conductor - they set what is 'on time'.
