Sorry if this has been covered, but my search revealed nothing.

Is it best (from your personal experience) to do BE exercises as a stand-alone session?

If done as part of regular practice, do you prefer as part of warmup, or after as a type of cool down, or some other schedule?

For me -I begin with the Caruso 5 positions, no attack versus with attack - in order to get a feeling for the state of my lips. Little paus
Then I use the Frink nr 1 Integrated warmup adding a few Clarke runs - paus. Turned out that I had to do a warm up prior to the BE. But that´s me.
Then the BE.
Beginning with RO - all of them (depending on the elasticity of my lips)
Then Crescendo 1 C-C
Tongue on lips 1 and 2 C-G
Doing these very very carefully! Including the Cresc; Seemingly simple but not! I find these exercises quite fantastic, simple as the may seem....rather straining but don´t overdo them.
Allt the time I observe potential weariness - important to take 5! At least.
I have often done the RI:s in connection with the RO:s. But watch out! Don´t overdo.

Then the Advanced lip flexibilies.
Paus.
Then Clarke - or others gems from the BE book.
Then new material from the bands.
Never any problems with this scheme, whatsoever. Also I´m using a bigger (deeper) mouthpiece when practicing.

So in short: Nope, not stand alone; integrated with the rest of my musicical life.
And as so often on the TH: works for me

I don't do BE anymore but did them for several years. When I was doing them, I did the Laurie Frink Integrated Warm-up then BE in the same order as presented in the book.

If my schedule permits I do BE in a separate session, the first one of the day.

If I can't separate the BE practice, I do it at the beginning, then I continue with other things.

I find it important to do BE with fresh lips.

I agree. The BE exercises are quite straining in themselves so it´s far too easy to overdo them killing your chops. I know, first hand....

That said I do an easy warm up then go for the BE - and later in the day other stuff. But some days now and then I devote entirely to the BE - however never ever prior to a rehearsal, concert.
Normally warm up, BE and then other stuff well spaced throughout the day. 3(4) x 20 -30 minutes +/-. Some days considerably shorter and some days more - depending on the state of my chops.

The risk of overdoing whatever exercise is always present.
