I had knee surgery. They put a tube down my throat. It made my bottom lip numb for the day.
I still has swelling and I am having a hard time playing.

How long since your surgery? I was around 70 when I had my 1st knee done, and 6 months later, got the other done. The 1ST surgery took quite a while for me to get over the anaesthesia. Like maybe a week. The 2nd was a lot easier. Sounds like the lip thing may be more like a bruising type thing than anaesthesia related. _________________ huntman10

How are you doing? I suspect that the anesthetizer (don't know if it was a nurse or a doctor) caught your lip between the endotracheal tube and your teeth. The lip was likely pinched, compressed. This is an anesthetist error, akin to breaking a tooth. Hoping you are recovered by now. All wind instrument players should mention this to the anesthetizer before they are put under, warn them to be exceedingly careful of the lips. |

I take a different tack. The OP's statement was six weeks ago with no further participation. How urgent could it be? _________________ "If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn." Bird

The anesthesiologist is to blame for this. Before being put under anaesthesia, every wind instrument player should inform the anaesthetist of this and caution them to pay close attention to their lips. foodle |
