Loud Metronomes and good tuners

Any suggestions on Loud metronomes? I have a difficult time hearing the metronome over beautiful sound of my trumpet!

Also, is there such a thing as a good tuner vs bad tuner?

I use the Pro Metronome app for iPhone. I’ve had it a long time but I think I remember it was free. I can turn it up to quite a loud volume.

I’d be interested in responses to the question about a good tuning app, as I don’t much like the ones I’ve tried.

Wouldn't the loudest one be a CD you could play and control the volume with a home stereo?

If money is no object, a Boss Dr. Beat DB-90 plugged into an amp and some good speakers, and a Peterson StroboPlus.

Above I mentioned what I have on my desk. The DB90 is quite loud without being plugged into anything.

In my gig bag I carry a Korg tuner/metronome which works fine but isn't particularly loud. Specifically I have the TM-50 which cannot show a swinging metronome and a needle tuner at the same time, like the newer TM-60 evidently can. Looks like they've got some other options too:

I own 2 other Korg tuners besides this combo device and I have found them all highly reliable.

95% of the time that device stays in the bag and I use "tonal energy" on my phone. When I look around the section or even in other brass sections this seems to be the app favored by just about everyone (I'm currently finishing a degree at Eastman School, so those are the ensembles I'm exposed to at the moment.)

I find my main use for a metronome when away from my desk is for setting a tempo before I play - not for playing along with, so loud volume isn't as important.

I've got clip-on guitar tuners hanging around, as well as a corded contact clip that plugs into another tuner (like the Peterson) but I can't say I like them. They work, but not especially better than anything else and the guitar ones have annoying button batteries to replace and tiny buttons. Plus they seem to both weight and dampen the bell noticeably.

When playing in church we have in-ear monitors, no stage monitors. I can’t play any of my horns with 2 earphones in, but one out works well. One of the 16 channels in our monitors is a click track, each channel is individually adjustable and I’ve found I don’t need a lot of volume for the click. I’m close enough to the drums I don’t need them at all, primarily have acoustic and bass guitar loud enough to hear, along with lead singer. Electric guitars are cut way back!

I have an old Dr. Beat (DB-66) that you would get fairly loud. But, if you really needed it loud, you could make it so it had the extra "chirp" on every beat - that was loud enough to use in the brass septet I played in with no amplification.

I remember when the DB-90 came out, I was tempted (and it was far cheaper then) - but frankly, my now decades old Dr. Beat works fine.

Have you considered a visual metronome? I find the same as you, that I can’t hear the metronome when I practice. I found an app called Maestro XL, it shows an image like a conductors baton. You can either view it as if you are the conductor or as if you are in the orchestra. It also has audible sounds too.
