I'm curious what your experience was like as I'm considering taking a lesson or two from him online.

I've taken online lessons from Bobby. I've found the lessons to be really useful and hugely informative. He has an enormous wealth of knowledge regarding jazz and lead playing, and has spent much of his career figuring out how to teach those thing well. He's interested in the physiology of trumpet playing, and how the human mind learns, and tailors his approach accordingly.

I've found that one hour lessons are the way to go with Bobby. He has so much information to impart, a great love for the music, and so many related stories to tell, that you'll want the time.

I'd also suggest that you approach each lesson with a clear goal for what you want to get out of it and let him know in advance. He has a number of articles, exercises, etc., that he has written over the years and may send them to you before a lesson if he knows what you want to cover.

Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.

He’s a great teacher!!! He’s spent years working on so many parts of playing!!! Especially breathing!!! My uncle Ray Triscari played in LA studios with him on hundreds of dates and TV shows etc…
Great player.. great teacher and great guy!!!!
Hugely recommend him!!!

Thank you both for the feedback and for the advice. I've sent him an email and will try and set up a few lessons with him. Much appreciated!

Yes, great teacher. And even more fun if you can get him to tell a few stories.

Bobby teaches in a very practical way from his own experiences. There is some Brisbois basics, some pivot talk about different notes, and many other things.

He has also told me that when you've figured all this stuff out and gotten yourself dialed in, it does not take hours per day of practice to maintain your range and endurance. He actually told me that he can maintain his chops in minutes per day.

For that latter part, I am apparently not dialed in like he is. Lol. I'm still a work in progress. I believe he is one of the true masters of efficient trumpet playing.

As a followup, I took a first lesson from Bobby and it was great. We were on for over an hour and not only is he an incredibly nice person, but is a great teacher as well. Highly recommended.
