Even when he's playing 'in the stratosphere', he instantly locks in on every note in terms of both intonation and tone quality.

I think the original playing was a few years earlier, 2016, but posted to YouTube a couple months ago. Still, many thanks for posting. I've seen this version of FireDance before - but it's incredible. Excellent post - thanks! _________________ Jonathan Milam

Heard Allen in 76 or 77 with Woody's Band. My God, what a beast. Spot on about making it look effortless.
Trombonist Jim Pugh was on the band at that time. Another guy who just kills it and makes it look easy. |

What an incredibly pure tone he has. Ugh
Vizzutti's Youtube channel, while not super active, is quite entertaining. He likes putting up weird little hyperspace ditties where he's playing... jagged, stochastic solos, and the videos are like him and his wife dancing around, or a metal slinky man dancing. Very cute and unassuming. _________________ 1936 King Liberty No. 2

Excellent - don't think I've heard him do it more solidly.
Unless it's someone Allen hired and it's with his blessing I'd want to take whoever is firing off flash photos in his face and beat them into a coma and smash their camera/cell phone on the floor.
They should have and enforce a no flash photography policy. _________________ Getzen Eterna Severinsen

Al's been killin' it for over 50 years-he's obviously doing something right check out my (JJ Martin) youtube page-I have a live bootleg audio of Al playing Firedance w Woody's band in '77...he also wrote a tune at Eastmen called "Viz Biz" which was a duet he did w Jeff Tyzik... |
