Eric and I had spoken a few times via telephone many years back when he was pondering publishing his own materials. I also corresponded with him via email and TH PMs quite a bit, as well as purchasing several of his publications.
A good man who left us too soon! Send my regards to Gabriel, Eric! _________________ Puttin’ On The Ritz |

I am so sorry to hear that. I didn’t know Eric too well, but the couple times I spoke with him, he was very kind. May he Rest In Peace. |

I'm a bit late to this news but saddened by Eric's passing. His introductions to improvisation videos inspired my teaching years ago and still works magic in helping young students get started. I bought some of his books at the time. An early Youtube adopter of trumpet pedagogy which would make him a pioneer and now a legend. RIP Eric.
Introduction to improv.... great for teaching:

I'm wondering if someone is taking over his publication business? Can we still order his books, CD's etc? Just a thought. It might help his family out. |

I’ve purchased a couple of PDFs from bolvinmusic.com early this month and last. _________________ Boosey & Hawkes Sovereign Studio / Lotus 2XL B |

I never spoke to Mr. Bolvin in person. A few years ago, when I ordered his Arban Manual (print version), he sent the order with a handwritten note thanking me for doing business and wishing me luck. I wish I had known him better than the occasional interaction on the TH allowed.
I hope there will be some way to keep his books in print, esp. the Arban & Saint-Jacome manuals.
I'm not surprised to hear that Timothy Quinlan continues to offer some of Faded Duck publications in pdf. Mr. Quinlan has also kept the late Bill Knevitt's materials available in the same manner. _________________ Enjoy the journey. |
