I purchased a Getzen Severinsen model on eBay recently. The serial number is SK4039. The case is original to the horn. The panel that fits against the top part of the case (lid) snaps at the top and the bottom part of the panel either attaches to the lid or the back part of the case itself. It has come loose and I would like to reattach it. Does where the lower part of the panel attach depend on whether it is an early serial number or later serial number?

Sounds like an easy repair with a hot glue gun bead along the inside bottom of the case lid. There should be a metal angle piece at the top of the case against which the fold down music storage panel rests when closed and snapped. Keep the same spacing at the bottom of the lid as at the top so that music books will fit. The Getzen Eterna case is one of the sturdiest cases ever made for a trumpet. (I repaired many cases of all kinds in the repair shop.)

Would there a way I could show photos of my case so I could get clarity on response from “plankowner110”? I don’t have a metal angle piece on my case. Thanks.

You should be able to see where the storage panel was attached to the case lid before it came loose. It should be easy to figure out. Just be careful not to burn your fingertips on the hot glue.

Thank you plankowner110 for the information that the storage panel bottom (top is snapped) attaches to the case lid. That clarifies what I couldn’t tell previously but now that you point that out I see some residual glue on the case lid.

Thanks to Ronnman for the link on how to display pics.

I thought I knew what glues to what with the panel bottom gluing to the case lid bottom but I saw there was residual glue on the black vinyl 1” wide flap on the panel as well as residual glue on the red back side of the panel bottom so I didn’t know if the vinyl strip or the bottom of the panel on the red side of the panel glues to the case lid. Any suggestions?

Why don't you send/take it to someone who really knows what they're doing?

p.s. I loved those cases. Played a Severinsen in college and for many years professionally and carried that case widely. Loved that added music pouch in the top portion of the case. For me, a valuable and unique feature.
