Hi all, I got one of these with an Olds cornet I bought on an online auction site. It's not for me, but wanted to know if it would fetch anything on eBay? The trumpet 6C is listed for $300 so didn't know if this would be similar:

Any input appreciated. _________________ Adams A1 Tpt.

It's always better to check the sold listings for an accurate assessment of value. I see a Mt Vernon 6 tpt mouthpiece sold for $67 plus shipping not too long ago. I think the cornet mouthpieces generally sell for less than trumpet, with the larger mouthpieces commanding the highest prices. _________________ Dr. Nathan Sobieralski

I could see a 3C or larger in good condition going for $300 but not a really rough 6C. |

I just bought a Mt. Vernon 7C cornet mouthpiece for about 50 bucks a couple of weeks ago. |

Was it a wide shank Olds cornet piece, with an O stamped on the thinnest part of the shank? That would get a good price. I got a more recent mouthpiece in the case with a Recording cornet last week. The mouthpiece in the auction looks really worn and will not likely get over $50. A Mt Vernon 6 cup is likely to get more, as it is a scaled down version of the 1 cup and Bach himself played it. I guess I should say the 1 cup was scaled up from the 6, since the 6 was catalogued a couple of decades or more before the 1. _________________ huntman10

Cornet mouthpieces seem to command less in price than a same sized vintage trumpet mouthpiece. This is a pretty well established axiom on eBay and other places. _________________ Dr. Albert L. Lilly, III DM

And that Bach 1 at that time was in fact what is currently catalogued as the 1X. _________________ Dr. Albert L. Lilly, III DM
