Hi All,

Need some help and hoping someone can. I have a Manchester brass flugelhorn and I love it. However I have not been able to figure out how to remove the third valve slide to clean it. It has a third valve trigger but it is attached to top and the bottom of the slide with a threaded bar. Can anyone help? Please advise. Thanks in advance. - RC

Why don't you call Austin Custom Brass?

If it's similar to my CarolBrass flugel, look at the rod attached to the 3rd trigger. On the bottom, there is a flathead screw. Be careful not to lose that when it's loosened.

I have found the screw. It seems to be made of plastic and do not want to damage it. It seems to in pretty tight. Suggestions?

I believe those connections "pop" off.. you don't have to undo a screw or anything, just grab the oblong end of the rod between your thumb and finger and pinch it off of the post (it's like a ball and socket - a pop together hip joint)
Call or write to Austin Custom Brass - I know they deal with these instruments and can guide you further if needed.

This is a Austin Custom Brass instrument, I believe. They're quite responsive and I'm sure would be happy to answer your questions. It's not like calling Yamaha about their Xeno.

Just do that.

They used to be on Trumpet Herald .... until they weren't thanks to some trolls.

Sigh.
