Mariachi has come a long way here in Texas. It was in 2020 or 2021 that mariachi became recognized by TMEA as a major music ensemble.
With that said, there is now All-State Mariachi auditions! I noticed that no one had posted a video of the etudes online, so I went ahead and recorded Etude #1 so that students can use it for reference.
Very interesting. Question: what is the meaning of „State Cut“ about halfway throughout piece? Bar 31. Thanks. _________________ 2019 Martin Schmidt eXcellence

Great playing. I’m glad Mariachi is being incorporated into the state events in this manner. _________________ Scooter Pirtle

Nicely played but check for note and rhythm accuracy in ms. 10 & 12.
Great catch! Thank you for pointing it out.
Actually it was just rhythm accuracy, but you saw what I meant.
Really solid stylistic tone & articulation & vibrato! Most guys overdo Mariachi vibrato but in actual play it's very subtle, as you played. _________________ Tim Wendt
