A dear friend and mentor John Cvejanovich, knew Frank well from their experiences in Chicago and as John as a sub/extra in the CSO.
John once told of the time he was in Detroit and was visiting Frank at his home. As they were looking through a drawer full of mouthpieces, John pulled out a 1C. Frank looked at it and said something on the order of, "That's the one I've been looking for".
A marvelous player and great human being.

I never heard the man perform. We have some interesting connections, though. He's of Czech background, and so am I. I own one of his former Selmer C trumpets and find it a fascinating instrument to play. It has such a different timbre from Bachs but it's quite beautiful in its own way. _________________ Please join me as well at:

I heard him play Sinfonia Domestica in Carnegie Hall in 1980 or 81. He nailed it! |
