Looking for jazz, blues, rhythm blues, Motown, level 1 instruction book. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Just noticed the "Level 1" in the title. Most of my posted suggestions are more advanced than that, sorry. So . . . post deleted.

And, although it may seem a little convoluted, the Aebersold Play Along I has a ton of pertinent information in the text.

If I were also recommending Play Alongs, I would recommend Jamey Aebersold Vol 1, 2, and 54.

And check out his site for a lot of free information. jazzbooks.com

Thanks for the information. Did order one of the items you suggested.
Since I have started playing again, I am frustrated at the selected music in Level 1 instruction books. Have not be in elementary school since the 1960s.

Many band directors use Standards of Excellence: https://brucepearsonmusic.com/method-books/standard-of-excellence-comprehensive/

or Best in Class: https://kjos.com/band/methods-by-series/best-in-class.html

ULTIMATE JAZZ FAKEBOOK

by Doctor Herb Wong

Almost 700 songs over 90 years.

Virtually every jazz era, composer, and complexity.

Triple indexed by composer, song name, etc.

448 pages in plastic spirals, so it sits flatly.
